11th President of India

A.P.J. Abdul Kalam served as president of the Republic of India from 2002 to 2007. As president, Kalam promoted the advancement of the national nuclear weapons program. Kalam also devised a 20-year action plan to achieve economic growth through technological development in India.

The man who always has inspire with his life and world known him as Missile Man, People's President, writer, Inspirational Speaker and Simple personility.

Biography

A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, in full Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam, (born October 15, 1931, Rameswaram, India—died July 27, 2015, Shillong), Indian scientist and politician who played a leading role in the development of India’s missile and nuclear weapons programs. He was president of India from 2002 to 2007.

1931 - He was born on 15th October 1931 in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu India. His father Jainulabdeen Marakayar was a boat owner and imam of a local mosque; his mother Ashiamma was a housewife. He has 3 brothers and 1 sister. Among them APJ Abdul Kalam was the youngest of all the children in the family.

1954 - He completed his education at the Schwartz Higher Secondary School, Ramanathapuram. He done his graduation study in Saint Joseph's College, Tiruchirappalli, then affiliated with the University of Madras.

1955 - He Studied Aerospace Engineering in Madras Institute of Technology. His dream is to become a fighter pilot . he missed it because he achieved the ninth position but only eight position were allowed in IAF.

1960 - In the 1960's, APJ Abdul Kalam designed a small hovercraft at DRDO, while working with the Indian National Committee for Space Research (INCOSPAR) under the space scientist Vikram Sarabhai.

1963 - He visited NASA .

1965 - Kalam started working at DRDO for the expandable rocket project independently.

1969 - He was transferred to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) from the DRDO in 1969. he was the project director of India's first satellite Launch Vehicle (SLV III).

1981 - He was honored by Government of India by giving the Padma Bhushan award for his excellancy .

1982 - He rejoined DRDO and planned Kalam planned the program that produced a number of successful missiles, which helped earn him the nickname “Missile Man.” Among those successes was Agni, India’s first intermediate-range ballistic missile.

1990 - He was honored by Government of India by giving the Padma vibhushan award for his excellancy .

1995 - National Acadamey of Sciences Honored him with Honarary Fellow award.

1997 - He was honored with Bharath Ratna award and Indira Gandhi Award for National Inegration.

2002 - The Missile man won the Presidential election. During the period of 2002 to 2007 he put forward a countrywide plan called Technology Vision 2020, which he described as a road map for transforming India from a less-developed to a developed society in 20 years. The plan called for, among other measures, increasing agricultural productivity, emphasizing technology as a vehicle for economic growth, and widening access to health care and education.

2008 - he recieved lots of awards in this year . for doctarate of science , Aligarh Muslim University. Doctor of Engineering (Honoris Causa) Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Doctor of Science University Sains Malaysia.

2011 - After completing his President post he became a visiting professor for Indian Institute of Management shillong, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Indore.

2015 - He travelled to Shillong to make a lecturer about the "Creating a Livable Planet Earth". He passed away from us while cllimbing the stairs. His death is due to sudden cardiac arrest.
